Sonakshi Sinha's 'Go Go Go Govinda' Is a Charming Hit![

When it comes to item numbers, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor, Malaika Arora Khan, and all the other skin shows can go to the back of the line. Sonakshi Sinha officially has them beat by a mile.Sonakshi's guest item with Prabhu Deva in Oh My God released this week and it gets full marks. It goes without saying that Prabhu Deva is a genius, but Sonakshi is a revelation. The number, 'Go Go Go Govinda,' is completely different from the standard "sexy" (in scare quotes because they almost never are) dance number so many films resort to.

First, Sonakshi wears jeans. Jeans. Just as one does not simply walk into Mordor, likewise one does not wear jeans in an item number. But there's Sonakshi, rocking her skinnies and looking adorable while doing it. The tapori number is fun and wholesome--no gyrations, no pouting, no high heels. Sonakshi covers her partially bared midriff with a tied-up button down shirt and gets down to what's really important: dancing.

It's no easy feat to match up to Prabhu Deva (who American audiences are, sadly, most likely to know from a viral YouTube video titled "Benny Lava") but Sonakshi Sinha manages it with aplomb. This is what an item number should be: fun, fresh, toe-tapping, and engaging. No gimmicks, just a great song and a picturization that makes audiences smile. On those counts Sonakshi and Prabhu Deva have hit it out of the park.
