I'm lucky Akshay is working with a newcomer like me: Sonakshi Sinha

After starring together in Rowdy Rathore, Sonakshi Sinha is set to be seen opposite Akshay Kumar again in Joker.

The actress says she is lucky that the Bollywood superstar is working with a newcomer like her.

The 25-year-old actress is all set to make a hattrick with Akshay with the shooting of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 all set to kick-start this month.

"I consider myself lucky that a superstar like Akshay has shown good interest in working with a newcomer like me. He showed confidence in me when I was just one film old (Dabangg). He was convinced that I was the right choice for Joker and Rowdy Rathore.

"When someone as seasoned as him is confident about your acting capabilities, you do get all the more motivated. For me as an actress, it is an amazing prospect to work with Akshay.

After all, not many newcomers get that opportunity and here I am doing three films with him," Sonakshi told PTI.

Besides multiple projects with Akshay Kumar in her kitty, Sonakshi has also bagged a film each with Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh.

Shirish Kunder's Joker is a new experience for her courtesy the film's sci-fi and alien setting.

"It is really cool to be a part of such a fantastical setting. I like reading sci-fi books and watching films belonging to this genre. So when Joker came my way, it was automatically exciting.

"There were different kind of sets that were created and for me, it is a very nice and different experience when compared to the other films that I have done or am doing. The film's very uniqueness is its USP," said Sonakshi.

She is starring with Ajay Devgn in Son of Sardaar, the promo of which is playing all over and meeting with good response from the audience.

"Making the film was hard work but then also a very enjoyable experience. There was a certain feel-good element while filming it. Now with the audience too experiencing the same, compliments have been coming in quite incessantly."

Akshay Kumar puts Kaka's fans on record

Akshay Kumar has played the role of a son-in-law to perfection. Besides being there for late Rajesh Khanna in his last days, the actor has also made a special effort for Kaka’s innumerable fans. He placed several diaries outside Khanna’s bungalow, Aashirwad, for his fans to pen down their favorite memories of him.

“They (the fans) wanted to meet Akshay and the other members from the family. Since that was going to be impossible, he decided to give it a personal touch by arranging for the diaries,” says an insider close to family.

Four diaries have already been filled with messages. One of the special messages, which has apparently touched Akshay, reads: “Sir, my mornings won’t be the same again since I won’t be able to see you having tea on the terrace on Aashirwad. We will miss you.”
Apparently, after being kept out for 15 days, the diaries have now been taken indoors because of the rains. “Let’s see if Akshay wants to leave them out again. He is yet to take a call on that,” adds the insider.
The family even plans to take this a step further, “If and when a museum comes up at Aashirwad, all the diaries will be retained for other fans to read,” insists the source.
However, there has been no official word on plans to convert Aashirwad into a museum. Akshay, on his part, remained unavailable for comment.

Akshay Kumar has promised DID Li’L Masters’ season-2 winner Faisal Khan a Bollywood break

DID Li’L Masters’ season-2 winner Faisal Khan, the son of an autorickshaw driver, talks to Ritika Arora. Akshay Kumar has promised him a Bollywood break
Last year, when 13-year-old Faisal Khan joined the Dance India Dance Li’L Masters auditions, he had to return home, disappointed.
His mentors advised him to learn professional dance, and Faisal spent an entire year juggling between studies and various dance forms. This year, he participated once again, to win the Master Blaster title, a trophy, and walked away with
Rs10,00,000.
Faisal was part of ‘Prince Ki Paltan.’ “I have learnt dance for four years. My parents supported me throughout. They also made sure I do well academically,” said Faisal.
So what’s his favorite dance style? “Hip-hop. But in the show, I learned contemporary, jazz, classical,” he responded. Faisal grew up watching Hrithik Roshan and Shahid Kapoor. “I copied their steps while dancing on TV. My choreographer Prince is fabulous. And He never shouted at me,” he added.
Faisal is from Ghatkopar, Mumbai. His father is an autorickshaw driver. His mother is a housewife.
“I study in eighth standard. No one in my family is as passionate about dance as I am. But when I told my parents about my interest, they encouraged me.”
So what will he do with the money? He replied, “My parents invested it. I’ll continue learning dancing,  because I want to be a like Remo D’Souza and Terrence Lewis.”
Sharing his experience of being on the show, he said, “I would get nervous before a performance. And when others got good feedback from the judges. There were times I felt I would lose it. But I rehearsed. Prince would motivate me. And before each performance, I would think about my dance guru. He would tell me to relax and give my best.”
The 13-year-old has been promised his first Bollywood break by actor Akshay Kumar. Faisal is on cloud nine… He plans to celebrate the victory with his family and friends.

Shreyas Talpade supports Akshay; criticizes rumours against him

There was a time around a decade ago when there were murmurs around Akshay Kumar sitting during the editing of his films and ensuring 'healthy cuts' so that the film's continuity could be maintained and it didn't lose focus. It is a different matter that some of his co-stars weren't overtly pleased with the outcome, more so since they felt that they were being short-changed. However just like every storm, this one too settled down over a period of time, what with Akshay continuing to work in many a multistarrer and his co-stars no more complaining. Same holds true for his partner of two films, Shreyas Talpade, as well.

"After working with him in HOUSEFULL 2 and now JOKER, I am rather surprised that people made such accusation at one point in time. I think it was all rumour. I wasn't short-changed in HOUSEFULL 2 despite he as well as John (Abraham) and Riteish (Deshmukh) being there. Now even for JOKER I haven't seen him snipping around parts of others. I think it was just some ideal mind at play who spread these rumours because I truly feel that Akshay is a great guy to work with. There has been absolutely no problem while sharing screen with him and everyone has enjoyed his or her place under the sun," says Shreyas.

CHECK OUT: Is Shreyas Talpade turning Khan siblings' 'ghar ka hero'?

For someone who has been a part of many big money spinning multistarrers like GOLMAAL series as well as OM SHANTI OM, Shreyas maintains high regard for Akshay.

"Whenever he is on sets, you just cannot get bored. He constantly keeps doing something. Either he would be playing pranks or sharing jokes. He is someone who is 'being positive' personified. Period," he comments.

Here is hoping that this positive spirit finds its presence in JOKER as well which is all set for 31st August release.

Akshay Kumar’s son always by mother’s side

A Bollywood actor’s life entails much travel as Akshay Kumar is well aware of. However, although he may feel uneasy that he has to leave his expectant wife, Twinkle’s, side, he has been reassured by his 9-year-old son Aarav. It seems Akki junior is very much at the back and call of his mother, never leaving her side.
A close family member said to Deccan Chronicle, “Though he will be turning 10 only next month, he has started picking up responsibilities rather fast. He understands his father’s hectic schedule and has stepped ahead to fill in for Akshay while he is away. He is not leaving Twinkle’s side even one bit”.
Kumar himself expressed his gratitude to his son and explained how impressed he is with him, “I must say that I have never known a child to be so understanding about a newborn. My wife is being looked after by Aarav. It’s incredible to witness and reassuring for any father to know that any minute not spent with his pregnant wife is a minute taken care of by his willing son”.
Well it seems Aarav must be learning from his father because despite his reputation of casanova in the early years, he has been nothing but the doting husband since marrying his lady love.

Akshay and I had to be on the same wavelength for Oh My God: Paresh Rawal

Paresh Rawal has always combined his B-Town outings with his first love -- theatre. Over the years, he has been keen that several of his plays be adapted for the big screen. In 2008, his Gujarati play Maharathi was made into a film. Now there is another of his favourite floorboard offering --Krishan vs Kanhaiya -- which is Bollywood- bound.

The project, Oh My God also has him as a producer along with star buddy Akshay Kumar and former channel head Ashvini Yardi. With the film's shoot almost over, the actor is now planning a tour of the play to Russia. When a play is adapted for the big screen there are a lot of apprehensions as well as high expectations so we ask him...

Has the film turned out exactly like the play?

I can say that it is a sharper version of it. The play takes a look at beliefs, rituals and traditions in a humorous way. Its director Umesh Shukla has also called the shots for the big screen as well, so the thought process remains the same. As you have a screenplay for the big screen there are more elements included like music, songs, action. All this is needed for a film. Remember cinema is a medium of images while drama is a medium of words. So you have to make a film visually appealing as well.

But there is also an item number in it!

Yes. It has been done by Sonakshi Sinha and Prabhu Deva. When you perform on stage you can get away without all these trappings but on the big screen you need all this.

The film also has you take on the role of a Bollywood producer.

Yes, I have produced several plays as well as TV soaps. But producing a film is completely different. It's not only the scale but also the way things are executed, as there is too much at stake. As an actor I am reprising the same character I essayed in the play.

You have always had this comfort factor with Akshay Kumay...

I've known Akshay for years. I have implicit trust in him. When you embark on a new project especially a joint production, you need to have mutual trust -- how well your ideas are received and how the dealings are done. Akshay had seen the play and then we got talking about making it into a film. Even though he has been a producer earlier, this is his first venture under a new banner with Ashwini. So we had to be on the same wavelength.

Are any of your more plays big screen bound?

Yes, two more drama-based projects are in the pipeline. We are in talks with production houses.
