Rajesh Khanna's Will cuts Dimple Kapadia out of property share

India's original superstar, Rajesh Khanna who died a few weeks ago at the age of 69, was accorded a very 'popular' farewell by the entire country's cine buffs.
No controversy crept into the issue then. But now, one has been injected. As per media reports, Rajesh Khanna has refused to give even a paisa to his wife Dimple Kapadia in his Will - they had separated years ago, but had not divorced.

This is a surprise as Dimple was seen by the side of the dying star constantly in the months leading up to his death.
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and his son had also marked their presence, showing great care and attention in handling the ailing Khanna.
Rajesh Khanna's very pregnant elder daughter Twinkle too showed herself in public alongside her father as did younger sibling Rinkie - Dimple was always there in the foreground and background - the star himself added to the bonhomie by smiling constantly.

Controversy in the form of a woman claiming to be Rajesh Khanna's live-in partner (she demanded compensation) in the from of Anita Advani did cause a flutter, but the issue was generally watered down.
The question of Rajesh Khanna's will, however, adds a new dimension into the case - a legal one.

Joker space screening not just for Sunita Williams: Farah Khan

Choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan clarifies that makers of Joker planned to show the fantasy adventure on the space station as part of a promotional strategy and that it was never meant just for Indo-American astronaut Sunita Williams. (Read: Astronaut Sunita Williams' in-flight entertainment could be Bollywood film Joker)

"UTV had earlier planned it all, but I never took Sunita Williams' name, I don't know how her name cropped up," Farah Khan said. "This was a promotional strategy because Akshay (Kumar) is a NASA scientist in the film, it's about aliens and space ships. They (UTV) thought we could get it relayed on that station, but there is so much red tape involved in that and it takes a long period of asking for it and all. But I never took Sunita Williams' name," said Farah Khan, who has co-produced the film.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar's look in Joker resembles that of Aamir Khan's in Lagaan. Asked about the similarities, Farah Khan said: "If he is looking like Aamir in Lagaan, then I am happy because it was a very big movie. But a villager's outfit and look is the same, dhoti and bandi. By this logic, Aamir Khan's look also resembled that of Dilip Kumar's in Naya Daur. It's a village look and there are only that many village looks that you can do," she added.

Directed by Shirish Kunder, Joker also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Shreyas Talpade. It is set to hits theatres Aug 31.

Aashirwaad dispute: Not a thing to talk about, says Akshay Kumar

Actor Akshay Kumar, who has won praises for the way he has conducted himself during father-in-law Rajesh Khanna's illness and eventual death on July 18, lost his cool at a recent outing after being quizzed about the property dispute that Mr Khanna's family is currently embroiled in.

The Khanna clan have maintained a discreet silence in the face of remarks from Mr Khanna's alleged companion Anita Advani and also from actress Deepti Naval, both of who have said that Rajesh Khanna's Bandra residence Aashirwaad should be turned into a museum.

At the recent DVD launch of Rowdy Rathore, Akshay, who has been the family spokesperson so far, was asked for a reaction but no one expected the one they got.

"It's not a thing to talk about. I request you with folded hands sir if you cannot talk about this so we are gonna talk about- it's written here 'Don't angry me, buy DVD of Rowdy Rathore'. So, I think you are educated enough to see it what we have come here for, so we will only talk about this. I am sorry to say I cant talk about this at all," said an annoyed Akshay.

Last week, Ms Advani had rubbished allegations that she wanted Mr Khanna's property for herself. Soon after Mr Khanna died, Anita Advani reportedly sent the Khanna clan a legal notice in order to safeguard against her possible eviction from Aashirwaad.

Mr Khanna died at home in Mumbai on July 18, 2012. He was 69 and had been battling cancer.

Will Akshay Kumar's Joker enter Rs. 100 crore club?

This year, he has delivered two back-to-back blockbusters — Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore (RR). And though Akshay Kumar waltzed into the Rs.100-crore club with these two films, the bar’s been set low for his next, Joker. The film has been sold for a mere Rs.40 crore to distributors UTV Motion Pictures.

And with a major part of the money already recovered through satellite and overseas rights, they need to make only a little more from the theatre collections to make profits. UTV partnered with Akshay to produce RR, and this seems to be the actor’s way of showing gratitude. Joker is produced by Akshay’s Hari Om Entertainment along with.
Three’s Company (owned by Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder), and made on a budget that’s reportedly between Rs.35 to Rs.40 crore. So, the film has essentially been sold to UTV at par. “Since Joker will attract the kids (the story involves aliens and has a lot of special effects), the film is sure to do well. With plenty of buzz around it already, the distribution company shouldn’t have any problems recovering the money,” says a source close to the film.
However, even before its release, the film is believed to have made around Rs.30 crore from different avenues, including satellite, home video and overseas rights. Insiders believe that satellite rights alone brought in around Rs.25 crore. “UTV has to make only a fraction of the money from theatrical revenues. And Akshay is happy because he doesn’t want anyone to lose money on Joker,” adds the source.
Insiders feel that the move was to ensure that Joker doesn’t have to make Rs.100 crore to become a blockbuster. “Since it has been sold for around Rs.40 crore, it can become a big hit,” informs the source.Joker also features the same lead pair as RR, that of Akshay and Sonkashi Sinha. “We are happy if people like our pair,” says Akshay, adding, “Joker is a special film since it deals with completely new.
