Akshay Kumar loves the action hero tag

Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar loves action and comedy, but insists that he prefers being tagged as an action hero.

“While I enjoy both these labels, somewhere in my heart, I love the action one more,” confessed the 45-year-old star recently. “ However, it’s easy to kick, and very difficult to make someone laugh,” he added. And soon, the actor will be seen bringing both comedy and action together, in his upcoming film Khiladi 786, which releases in December this year. It will also see Asin, Paresh Rawal and Himesh Reshammiya in pivotal roles.

Currently Akshay is busy promoting his next release, OMG! Oh My God. About his belief in god, the actor said: “I am a believer. But more than god, I believe in my parents, in what they say and after them, I believe in God.”

Akshay made a comeback to the action genre after seven years with his recent hit Rowdy Rathore and was later seen in the sci-fi film Joker, which didn’t fare well at the box-office.

Rare Pic "Akshay Kumar"

When Akki made a street urchin smile

A street urchin kept following Akshay Kumar through his shoot until Akshay met her personally.
Recently Akshay Kumar was shooting a special song, 'Mere Nishaan' in the SoBo streets of Mumbai for the film OMG Oh My God. By now, we all know that Akshay plays a modern day Lord Krishna in the film. The song is special as it portrays God's vision of his own created world which would surely make it an interesting watch.

While shooting the song in different parts of town, Akshay and the unit found one common thing everywhere they went, a street urchin, Ambar! "Small little Ambar happened to be a big fan of Akshay Kumar and when she came to know he was shooting in the vicinity, she left no stone unturned to catch a glimpse of the star. She followed him all around all day long", says a unit-hand.

Finally when the news reached Akshay, he met Ambar and made the girl's dream come true and made her smile. Seems like Akshay's screen image of God is rubbing off in real life what with him making people's dreams come true in reality!

Akshay Kumar: It's very difficult not to get along with Sonakshi Sinha

By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial
Sonakshi Sinha has joined Akshay Kumar in Muscat where they are now shooting their third film together, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI 2. This also makes the pairing one of the most prolific in the recent times.

"Sonakshi is clearly a favourite when it comes to Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. Though there were stray rumours around Salman being a tad unhappy with Sonakshi, all of that is just hearsay with no basis whatsoever. On the other hand Akshay Kumar is finding a new 'jodi' for himself in the form of Sonakshi Sinha," states an observer.
While one waits to see the results of ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI 2 where she shares a love triangle of sorts with Akshay Kumar and Imran Khan, one is inclined to ask the 'khiladi' superstar about his now prolific leading pairing with Sonakshi.
"With Sonakshi it's very difficult not to get along," smiles Akshay, "We eat the same, laugh the same and both of us love our work. As for being a prolific pair then well, this is only our third movie. Only time will tell just how prolific Kumar and Sinha really are."
Well, with talks of more films in the pipeline for Sonakshi Sinha and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI 2 carrying very good vibes already, guess audience would be seeing a lot more of this pair in years to come.

Akshay Kumar fulfils a street-kid’s dream

Joker is not something Akshay Kumar is proud of and so he alienated himself from the film. But for Oh My God! Akshay is leaving no stone unturned because he believes in the premise a lot. He plays Lord Krishna in the film and is also very religious in reality. Akshay feels helping a needy is also a form of worship.

Not many are aware of the fact that Akshay Kumar has been giving financial aid to cancer institutions for quite some time now. The actor feels helping the underprivileged means much more than donating money to temples or conduct religious ceremonies for God. He has been part of a lot of causes but never uttered anything about it as this is not something he wants to flaunt. Confirming the same Akshay said that God resides in every man. By helping a needy person one is just getting closer to God.

Now he is not a man who likes to talk about such thing and not act upon it. Recently, he made the dream of a street urchin come true. A source from the Oh My God’s unit recounted that Kumar was shooting for a song ‘Mere Nishaan’ on the streets of Mumbai. A street kid ‘Amber’ started following the crew everywhere they went. Every location they went, the kid would be around. When one of the crew members questioned her, she said that she is a fan of Akshay and wants to just see him once. Hence, she has been following the crew all day. When the actor got to know of it, he made sure he met Amber and make her feel happy.

Amitabh Bachchan's Kaalia to be remade

Three of today's top stars, Salman KhanAjay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, are on producer Rajat Rawail's wishlist for his remake of Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Kaalia, a film whose Hindi remake rights he picked up at `3 crore.

With Big B film remakes finding success at the box office, it remains to be seen which star will step into his rather big shoes for this film.

Rajat confirms picking up Kaalia's rights but declines from commenting on casting. "I'm indebted to Salman Bhai because whatever I'm today is after his association with my film, Ready. I have a high regard for Ajay Sir for thebrilliant actor he is and Akshay Sir is one of the biggest box-office phenomena," he conceded, stressing that his priority was to get the script right. For that, he has to first get a director on board.

He explained, "Once I have the director on board, we'll get a writing team in place to give the story a contemporary feel. Only after the script is ready, will I approach a top star and I hope that whoever I offer the film, agrees to act in it."

Ask Rawail why he picked Kaalia and he puts it down to great content and brand value. "In today's times, I see more potential for Kaalia as a brand than it had way back then. While it has hard-hitting lines — like 'Hum jahaan khade ho jaate hain, line vahin se shuru ho jaati hai - it also has fantastic music for an action film. You remember the songs of Kaalia, like Jahaan Teri Yeh Nazar Hai, Jabse Tumko Dekha, and Tum Saath Ho Jab Apne," elaborates Rajat, who is also keen to retain a couple of songs from the original film and the background score with Kaalia echoing in it.

Akshay Kumar's Joker tanks at Box Office

Director Shirish Kunder's latest movie Joker, which is one of most-awaited movies of 2012, has tanked at the Box Office in India. Its first weekend collection is not even equal to its expected first day collection. The fantasy adventure has joined the league of biggies like Abhishek Bachchan's Players and Ajay Devgn's Tezz, which have utterly failed at the Box Office early this year.
Joker was expected to open to an earth-shattering response at the Box Office on Friday. But Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer film failed at the collection centres on the very first day. The movie collected approximately Rs 5 crore at the Indian Box Office, which is lower than the collection of medium budget movies like Jism 2Jannat 2 and Teri Meri Kahaani.
The makers of Joker are hoping that its business will improve on Saturday. But negative reviews and bad word of mouth sent down its collection on the second day to Rs 4.75 crore. The movie witnessed a jump in its business on Sunday, but it was not up to the mark. The film added Rs 5.45 crores nett on the day to its first weekend collection 16.20 crore nett.
However, Joker is a very big budget movie, which has been made with Rs 45 crore. The theatrical rights have fetched a whopping price for its makers. But it is the fate of distributors, who are facing tough time. It should be seen whether the film will get back their investment in future.
